Coach Alexis Otero brings a championship mindset, high-level collegiate experience, and a passion for player development to the Just Dawgs softball program. A versatile infielder from Chula Vista, California, Alexis built a decorated collegiate career at San Diego State University and Quinnipiac University, earning conference recognition, competing at the highest levels of NCAA softball, and now applying her experience as a coach to developing the next generation of athletes.
During her collegiate career, Alexis was known for her versatility, defensive reliability, and situational hitting. At San Diego State, she played a key role in the Aztecs’ historic 2023 season, appearing in 37 games and starting 24. She posted a .244 batting average with 19 hits, including two doubles, one triple, one home run, and nine RBIs. Alexis helped SDSU win the 2023 UCLA Regional and advance to the Utah Super Regional, the first-ever Super Regional appearance in program history, where the team reached the finals.
Before transferring to SDSU, Alexis spent two seasons at Quinnipiac University, where she was named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team in 2019. She played in 50 games, starting 49 at first base, batting .232 with two home runs, 24 RBIs, and 14 runs scored. In 2020, she played in 11 games and started 10 before the season was canceled due to COVID-19. Across her Quinnipiac career, she posted a .222 batting average with 36 hits, two home runs, 25 RBIs, and 16 runs.
Following her playing career, Alexis began her coaching journey at McNeese University, where she focused on player development, defensive fundamentals, situational hitting, and building confidence in student-athletes, applying her firsthand experience competing at high levels to mentor and prepare athletes for success on and off the field.
Prior to college, Alexis excelled at Eastlake High School in Chula Vista, California, earning All-Academic Team honors in 2016-17 and 2017-18, demonstrating her dedication to excellence both on the field and in the classroom.
